Nexus: the best option for those who want to always have the latest Android Nexus: the best option for those who want to always have the latest Android(1)

If the price tag is a major competitive disadvantage of iOS, the operating system present in laptops from Apple, make sure that a customer has purchased a quality product – both software and hardware – when you purchase an iPhone or iPad is also one of the main attractions of the Apple products.

Who opts for Android can be in doubt, after all, the list of devices that Google’s system board has options ranging from the extremely simple to the best equipment. But when it comes to Android-edge, the big name is the Nexus, the official line from Google. Besides offering the experience more “pure” with Android , as the version used in the device is the original, factory output and without any modification of manufacturers, the Nexus also always the first on the list when it comes to upgrade.

The newest Android is here

While all the Smartphones still offered a robust version of the Android Gingerbread (2.3.4), the Nexus came with the Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0). The response was so great that experienced users of iOS finally arrived to say that Google has created a system able to meet (and beat) its main competitor.

For a while it was like this: the only official Google Smartphone had the honor to take the modern and renovated Android ICS. Code named Jelly Bean, version 4.1 system brought few major changes, but it was first in the new Nexus, leaving behind even other big names from partners of Google, as HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Always up to date

The One X and S3 are great devices, fully able to meet the iPhone and the Nexus as equals. But Google , responsible for the development of Android, the software takes care much about the hardware of this device, that is designed to upgrade any system will arrive first at the Nexus.

In other edge devices, it takes some time until the manufacturer put your hand over a new version of Android, apply all changes to give your face the system there and then to release to its customers. Furthermore, there imply one hardware limitations, which also may have less effect on the Nexus.

Tiebreaker

Of course, sooner or later, following the rhythm “natural” technological development, your Google Nexus will eventually become obsolete. But until then you will be the target of a series of updates and news, and all this before any other device. If the hardware differences are not significant between edge devices with Android, as well as the price change between them is not so great, this quality of Nexus – always be first when it comes to Android – can be crucial to put it ahead of competitors.

Samsung Galaxy S3 gains popularity Samsung Galaxy S3 gains popularity(2)

The Samsung Galaxy S III has sold over 10 million units since its release two months ago. The South Korean-based company said it expected a profit of $6.7 billion in the second quarter of this year. The company is currently battling for supremacy with the Apple in the phone and tablet market. Recently demand for the Galaxy has jumped dramatically with consumers obviously looking for an alternative to Apple based products.

One of the reasons for the galaxies popularity is that the new model offers facial recognition and voice activation. It also includes a more powerful processor than previous models.

Samsung and Apple have been in recent months engaged in numerous court battles across the world over patents and copyright infringements with both companies claiming the other copied aspects of their designs. Nokia plans to partner with carriers to spruik new Windows phone Nokia plans to partner with carriers to spruik new Windows phone(1)

Nokia is considering partnering with mobile carriers in order to promote its new Windows phone. The company is in talks with several European mobile carriers to become an exclusive supplier of its new Windows 8 based phone. The ramifications of the deal would mean that a company would have a greater vested interest in promoting the phone and hence it’s attractive to Nokia because it would mean carriers would do more to sell their product.

However it will also mean that the device will be available on fewer carriers and hence they risk losing customers who are loyal to a carrier who the phone is not being sold on. The old philosophy Nokia used was the more places a phone is sold the more likely it is that it is to be sold. Unfortunately Nokia’s philosophy may be broken because sales have been at record lows in the last financial year. During the second quarter of this year Nokia recorded a $1.7 billion loss. The company, while admitting that those figures are disappointing said that the Windows 8 phone will act as a catalyst for the company and that they expected the business to turn around in the next financial quarter.

iPhone 5 to get a smaller dock iPhone 5 to get a smaller dock(0)

The new dock for the iPhone 5 will be much smaller than it was on the previous models. Apple is planning to replace the current 30 pin dock with a 19 pin connector when it launches the iPhone 5 in the next couple of months.

The reports which come out of Reuters claim that the change is being made to allow for the earphone slot to move from the top of the phone to the bottom of the phone. The current docking system has been around since 2006 and rumours of a change have been around for almost as long. However never before has there been so much speculation about a smaller docking connector.

Some rumours suggest that Apple will go with a micro-USB connector to conform to European regulations which say that all new mobile phones must be standardised and include a micro-USB connector.

However analysts say it’s more likely Apple will simply include a micro-USB adapter with the phone in order to get around the regulations. Other rumours about the phone include it having a wider screen, that it will be thinner, and that it will have 4G support.
